Beirut banks attacked as financial crisis deepens

Protesters in Beirut lit fires and smashed bank windows over ongoing limits on cash withdrawals.

Strict restrictions on withdrawing US dollars and Lebanese pounds have been in place since 2019, stopping people from accessing their savings.

The demonstrations come as the Lebanese pound hit a record low.
