U.S. Bancorp stock outperforms competitors on strong trading day

Shares of U.S. Bancorp USB, +0.33% inched 0.23% higher to $47.44 Tuesday, on what proved to be an all-around poor trading session for the stock market, with the S&P 500 Index SPX, +0.25% falling 0.20% to 3,990.97 and Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.08% falling 1.14% to 33,910.85. U.S. Bancorp closed $16.11 below its 52-week high ($63.55), which the company reached on January 18th.

The stock outperformed some of its competitors Tuesday, as Bank of America Corp. BAC, +0.31% fell 2.02% to $34.52, Great Southern Bancorp Inc. GSBC, +0.46% fell 0.90% to $59.43, and Wells Fargo & Co. WFC, +0.68% fell 0.23% to $44.12. Trading volume (10.1 M) eclipsed its 50-day average volume of 10.1 M.
